MTEQ is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer that will be specifically responsible for project planning, development of assembly processes, documentation, design of tooling/fixture/aids, and providing ongoing support to manufacturing operations at our Kilmarnock, VA facility.
MTEQ’s Manufacturing Services Division provides rapid prototyping and production capabilities for military and commercial customers. The Manufacturing Services Division in Kilmarnock, VA is comprised of three business units (BU): Systems Integration (SI), A&A Precision Machining (A&A), and Printed Circuit Board (PCB).
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
The preferred candidate should have working experience in manufacturing and process engineering, product and tooling design, fabricating/assembling printed circuit boards (PCBs) and wire harness assemblies, integrating components into “black-boxes”, and machining/ sheet-metal shop operations.
•Participate on new/revised product pursuits; prepare risk assessments, planning, pricing, quotations and other New Product Introduction (NPI) documentation.
•Conduct capacity, throughput/constraint analysis, develop start-up-prep, pilot and production plans/schedules, and lead launch of new/revised product production.
•Manage configuration control of Technical Data Package (TDP = drawings, BOMs, S/W, routings and other docs).
•Coordinate evaluation of any requested Engineering/Process change(s), then if approved, oversee implementation of Change Notice instructions and update of TDP records.
•Develop processes, tools, fixtures/aids needed for the manufacture of parts or assemblies.
•Define and maintain assembly planning, routings and quality control plans.
•Define inspection procedures, direct inspectors, oversee data-collection, metrics analysis.
•Support programming and set-up of surface mount technology (SMT) machinery and processes.
•Troubleshoot soldering issues and equipment; establish thermal profiles for oven baking and wave-solder processes.
•Continuously analyze production metrics, identify and justify improvements that would enhance quality, cost, throughput, and/or performance.
•Perform engineering troubleshooting and provide robust technical problem resolutions.
•Conduct root cause analysis and propose corrective actions for continuous improvement and resolutions to manufacturing problems (includes processes, machines, or programming).
•Confer with vendors to define product/manufacturing features, processes, finishes, requirements and specifications, resolve manufacturing issues.
•Evaluate and recommend equipment, parts, or materials needed to meet on-going production requirements (new equipment, alternate components, or replacements for obsolete parts).
•Collaborate with other staff to define, develop, and implement technical training/certification for technicians.
•Perform other duties and assume responsibilities as needed.
DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
•Excellent technical writing, documentation and communication skills.
•Knowledge of CAD and manufacturing software tools (specifically SolidWorks, Aegis, E2, Jamis.)
•Lean/6-Sigma background preferred
•Knowledge of IPC-A-610, IPC-WHMA-A-620, AS50881, AS9100, ISO9001, J-Std certified auditor/trainer credentials preferred.
