Production Engineer - Polymers (Job Number: 017382W-01)
Indorama Ventures Limited (IVL) has reached a deal to acquire DuPont Teijin Films (DTF). This change in ownership is expected to take place the first quarter of 2018.
PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Polymer Production Engineer is responsible for managing the Recycle operations to maximize overall polymer efficiency (RME) for the film plant. This includes optimizing Pelletizing and Recovery Operations, managing flake and chip inventories, overseeing all chip movement on site and managing disposal of all off-spec material to assure that we achieve maximum value. This includes managing activities to deliver required output, efficiency, quality, safety and productivity performance from assigned assets as well as off-site operations involving off-spec material. The PRE Leader is directly responsible for the Recycle technician and providing direction and leadership to approximately 18 area employees in all aspects of SHE, quality and productivity to achieve the business goals and metrics. The PRE Leader also provides process and product technology development and operations support services, focused on meeting customer needs and business objectives, with a special emphasis on maximizing overall site efficiency.

Monitor and address adherence to SHE Standards, site and area safety rules, and operating standards and procedures.
Monitor adherence and effective use of PSM/Management of Change and Permit process.
Maintain pelletizing areas and all chip/flake handling areas to a high housekeeping standard.
Communicate, reinforce and hold employees accountable to DuPont Teijin policies, principles and values.

Meet or exceed agreed metrics and targets with the primary target of maximizing the site’s RME
Continually upgrade pelletizing/Recovery processes to increase throughput, improve reliability, and improve chip quality
Develop systems and improve processes involving chip movement across the site to assure that the right product gets to the right film line as required and reduce the amount of scrap material due to misconveys.
Manage handling of off-spec material to assure that site achieves maximum value for it, whether in roll form, chip, or flake.
Perform scheduling of pelletizing assets to meet film line needs.
Deliver Fixed Costs within budget.
Champion scrap reduction across site.
Lead development and implementation of corrective actions against performance gaps.
Monitor and address adherence to process standards.
Drive performance improvement in Chip handling to reduce polymer scrap.
Lead efforts to improve chip quality in recycle area.
Assure that any recycle chip brought back on site meets all quality requirements.
Drive and monitor standard operating discipline efforts.
Minimum of 1 year of manufacturing experience is required.
Technical Degree or Engineering degree is preferred.
Experience with film making process is desired.
Ability to manage systems and see the big picture is ideal.
Good Computer skills, especially Excel and SAP
Six Sigma tools – green belt certified
