Community Health Systems Substance Abuse Counselor Cert in Franklin, Virginia
Runs individual, family, and group counseling for patients in chemical dependency programs. Acts as mediator between patients, relatives, medical staff, and outside agencies if needed. Tracks patient progress and dispensation of treatment services. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager.
Typically requires a bachelor's degree; qualified mental health professional - adult for 1 - 2 years, or other appropriate certification and 1-2 years of experience. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Certified substance abuse counselor (CSAC) and Certified alcohol and drug counselor (CADC).
