This position is located at US Army Medical Command, Fort Eustis, Virginia.

Fort Eustis is located in Newport News, between historic Williamsburg and Virginia Beach. There is local transportation via the Hampton Roads Transit bus service to the surrounding area which includes Hampton, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Chesapeake and Virginia Beach. Convenient interstate and major highways connect the city to the neighboring cities plus York County, Gloucester, Suffolk, and Smithfield. The city of Newport News sits on a prime vantage point where the James River meets the Chesapeake Bay. There is a strong historical heritage which is commemorated in the city's seven museums and historical sites.   • Provide independent and collaborative specialty, comprehensive and therapeutic health care services, integrating the art and science of medicine into medical practice.
  • Assess acute, nonacute and chronic clinical and psychological diagnosis, new patient intake/screening, history and physical examination, laboratory and diagnostic studies; to include interpretation, ordering appropriate medications and treatments
  • Provide staff education, and the initiation of a therapeutic plan in accordance with medical practice.
  • Initiate, implement and supervise treatment plans and educate for medical conditions such as; but not limited to, acute and chronic musculoskeletal injuries, acute upper respiratory and gastrointestinal illnesses, and urinary tract infections.
  • Provide quality, evidence based team-based primary care, promote preventive services, complete documentation in 72hrs, virtual and tele-health, Army exams and readiness IAW Army Medical Home and Joint Commission ambulatory guidelines.
  • Complete and meet all training, credentialing, quality and administrative requirements and maintain RVU production and coding accuracy equivalent to peers.
  • Perform military specific examinations and complete electronic profiling for medically indicated limitations IAW AR 40-501

  • This position has specific initial background investigation and periodic re-verification requirements since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age on a recurring basis

Degree: Graduation from a physician assistant educational program, accredited by the Accreditation Review Committee on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) or its predecessors, at a college, university, or educational institution that is accredited by an accrediting body or organization recognized by the Secretary, U.S. Department of Education. Certification: This position requires successful completion of the National Commission of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) examination; must maintain status as a certified physician assistant, including completion of all requirements for continuing medical education (CME) and re-certification. Licensure: Candidates must have a permanent, full, and unrestricted license to practice as a Physician Assistant in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. Experience required:Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: performing physical examinations on patients and prescribing medications, interpreting lab results, or diagnosing medical conditions. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
